December 2014 Weather for Marina, CA

TEMPERATURE:
    * December 2014, with an average temperature of 53.7 degrees (normal is 49.2), was the warmest December over the past 28 years.   It beat out Dec 1996 and 2005 (both 52.4 deg) by 1.3 degrees.  It was ten (!) degrees warmer than the coolest December (1990).
    * For the sixth consecutive month, average monthly temperatures were more than three degrees above normal.  July, August, October, November and December 2014 were the warmest on record, with September the second warmest over the past 28 years.
    * First frost of the winter was 26 Dec.   That slipped the long-term normal by one day to Nov. 17th, and was the latest occurrence of the first frost of the winter over the past 28 years.
    * 26 consecutive days (29 Nov-24 Dec) were above the daily normal, with Dec 3rd 13 deg above normal!

Dec 25-31:   2.7 deg below normal.

RAINFALL:
    *  Wettest December in 31 years of record, and probably the wettest (from other data) since at least Dec 1955.   Total of 7.63" beat out Dec 1996 with 6.28".
    *  Storm of 11-12 Dec dropped more rainfall in 24 hours (3.90") than fell in the entire calendar year of 2013!   Even without that storm, Dec rainfall would still have been above normal!
    * We are now at over twice normal for the season.   Yay!
